Early Voting Is Underway in OhioHave a plan to vote, and vote for the candidates who will best represent you in Columbus and Washington. Vote for the person, not the party. Ask whether your incumbents have served you well, or whether new candidates bring reforms that better serve you, your family, and your community. Learn about the candidates on your ballot at VOTE411.org. Enter your address to see the races and candidates’ answers in their own words. Early in-person voting takes place at your county Board of Elections:
Bring a photo ID, such as an Ohio driver’s license, state ID card, passport, or military ID. Voting by mail? Your application must reach the Board of Elections by 8:30 pm on Tuesday, October 27. Your ballot must be received by 7:30 pm on Election Day. Mailing it early or dropping it off in person is safest. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. Polls are open 6:30 am – 7:30 pm. OhD14P Members Speak Out Against Issue 3
Members of OhD14P promote awareness of Issue 3 and suggest voting no. A group of Ohio District 14 Partners members recently gathered to share their view that NO is the right vote on State Issue 3. OhD14P has not taken an official position. These members wanted to explain why they are voting no. Issue 3 would write a photo ID requirement to vote into the Ohio Constitution. Here is what they want voters to know. Ohio already has that requirement. Photo ID has been required for in-person voting under state law since 2023. A NO vote leaves that law in place. It reaches into mail voting. Absentee voters would need a photo ID, or a signature plus another identifier if state law allows it. That opens the door for lawmakers to tighten mail voting rules. They already passed a mail-voting photo ID bill in June, and the governor vetoed it. It locks the rules into the constitution. Today, election procedures can be adjusted through ordinary legislation. Once this is in the constitution, fixing a problem would take another statewide vote. It solves a problem Ohio doesn’t have. In-person voter impersonation, the only kind of fraud a photo ID can stop, is extremely rare in Ohio. The General Assembly placed Issue 3 on the ballot. Every Democrat in the Ohio House and Senate voted against it, arguing it was unnecessary because the requirement is already law. Read both sides before you vote. The Ohio Secretary of State’s official report on Issue 3 includes the arguments for and against.
In-Person Meetings of OhD14PThe October meeting is cancelled. With Election Day so close, we’re putting October’s energy into election efforts. We’ll meet the third week of November. The date, time, and location will be announced later. At that meeting we’ll take stock of the election results and talk about where OhD14P goes in 2027. All are welcome. There will be no meeting in December. |
